Hexton Labour Party
A general discussion on “How to Keep the Labour Party Popular” was enio.ved bv active members at the August meeting of the Hexton Labour Party branch which was held at the home of Mr. L. Ingram, Hexton. There was a good attendance and the usual business procedure was followed. Card games were later played and a dainiy supper served by Mrs Ingram. Bad for Morale
A new angle on the sending of New Zealand troops to Japan as part of the occupation force, is provided by Miss Jean Hcgg, 0.8. E., director-general of Hie Y.W.C.A. welfare services in the Far F.ast. "The occupation is bad for the morale ot our boys,” she told Palmerston North Rotarians. “Our troops merely police liio country and there is no altruistic motive for their being there. They have too much leisure with no adequate means of using it.” she said Miss Bcgg stated that all the work of rehabilitation was being done by the Americans under the MacArthtir government which brought over their experts in all branches ot sell government.
