BRITAIN DEFERS PAYMENI (10.30 a .m.) LONDON, Aug. 11. Britain has notified the Chancellor of Austria, Dr. Figl, that it is prepared to agree to the deferment to the end of 1947 of the repayment of debts incurred before March 14, 1938, and also to the deferment of payments of the occupation costs so that Austria can use the earnings of external currency to pay for imports and essential services. Austria agreed to the British condition that the other occupying Powers ehould not get more favourable eventual settlement terms.
