LUCKY ESCAPE
4 NEARLY SUFFOCATED (P.A.) DUNEDIN. June 21. Four occupants of the Robert Burns Hotel in George street were in danger of being suffocated by dense smoke when a fire broke out in the hotel early this morning. The licensee was awakened by a choking sensation and he quickly roused his wife, the porter and a maid. The fire, which was quickly brought under control bv the brigade, damaged the building to the extent of £3OO.
