N.S.W. 40-HOUR WEEK
MAY OPERATE IN JULY (11 a.m.) CANBERRA. June 14 The Executive Council yesterda; approved of amendments to the wage pegging regulations which will permi the introduction by the State Govern ment of the 40-hour week in Ne\ South Wales. The change in New Sout! Wales is now expected to operate fron July 1. The Government acted yesterdaj following representations to the Prim Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifiey, by the Nee South Wales Trades and Labour Conn cil, which pointed out that costly litiga tion, and possibly a State-wide tie-u{ would follow' the invalidation of th State law. In Svdney yesterday, the State Mir ister of Labour. Mr. Hamilton Knigh said that all State Government eir. ployees would work a wee even if they were under Feden awards.
