PLANE DROPS SUPPLIES
FLIGHT TO MAHIA PEN. VALUABLE TIME SAVED Chartered by a contractor, the Gisborne Aero Club’s Tiger Moth aircraft, piloted by Mr. J. Leslie, a club member, was flown to Maliia Pcnin§ula on Thursday afternoon on an unusual mission.’This involved the dropping ol spare parts for a bulldozer, which averted considerable delay and expense for the owner The contractor was informed by telephone that the parts were needed to keep the bulldozer in operation, and he was faced with the prospect of a long journey by motor truck to the far end of the peninsula and, in the meantime, the machine would have been idle. As the parts required were of small size, he decided to charter the aircraft, and' flew in the front cockpit to direct the pilot where the drop was to be 111 The aircraft took off from Darton Field about 2 p.m. and with Ihe parts safely delivered it was back at its base A tor a flight occupying one hour live minutes.
