PLEA TO AUSTRALIANS NO RATION CHANGES CANBERRA. May 2. The Government would not alter the present ration scales but had decided to launch a national appeal to people t.i save food tor Britain, said the Minister of. Commerce and Agriculture, Mr Pollard, in the House of Representatives. Cabinet, had decided against altering the meat, butter and sugar rations, because Australians in the lower income and large family groups were not able to sacrifice these* bssic foods and substitute more costly alternatives.
