RENT RISES OPPOSED
CONGRESS DECISION CONTROL TERM EXTENDED (10 a rn ) WASHINGTON, May 2. The House of Representatives rejected by 135 votes to 119 a bill seeking to increase rents by 10 per cent, and then voted by 204 votes to 182, to extend rent controls at least until December 31. Any State, county, city or town, however, may terminate rent controls earlier if it desires. The bill now goes to Senate,' whose labour committee has already rejected a proposal for a 10 per cent, rent increase.
