INDIA’S APPROACH AUSTRALIA AND N.Z. BENEFITS FROM AMERICA GENEVA, May 1. With tariff and preference negotiations between the Indian and British delegations to the International Trade Organisation believed about to begin, India’s growing trade with Australia, rather than with Britain, appears to be making India’s attitude towards Imperial preference more friendly. India seems anxious to retain those preferences which assist her Australian trade. It is thought that she may be conV ternplating bilateral agreements with • Australia and New Zealand in order to keep those individual preferences, while relinquishing her United Kingdom preferences in the hope of getting benefits from the United States.
