ATTACKS INCREASING EUROPEAN SETTLEMENTS (10 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. The Daily Telegraph’s correspondent in Paris says That rebel pressure in Madagascar had considerably increased during the past 24 hours in the region of Mananjary on the east coast of the island and also at Tamatave, 185 miles further north where local Europeans are concentrated in expectation of a siege. French reconnaissance planes have sighted villages burning between tile two towns. Sporadic attacks on European settlements are also reported in other areas by armed bands of native dissidents.
