WELL-FILLED FIELDS

TRACK MAY BE “EASY” (Herald Special Services The Ashburton County Racing Club, for the first time since the racing days were reduced, will race on consecutive Saturdays, the first day’s programme of its autumn meeting taking place this week. The fields are all well filled, and although the class of horse engaged cannot be rated very highly, most of the events present a very open appearance. Of those with dual engagements, Eudora and Pandosto are expected to contest the Eiflelton Hack Handicap in preference to the Apprentices’ Handicap, and Wantwood is likely to start in the Flying Handicap. The track promises to be easy but not soft. The betting will be under the win-and-place system. The following horses may race prominently: _ Longbcach Hurdles. —Battle Chief, Grand Forest, Big Top.
