MORMON WEDDING
More than 300 guests, including Maori visitors from Hawke’s Bay as well as members of a Mormon Mission from Salt Lake City, U.S.A., were present at a wedding at Porirua Pa. last weekend. The. bride, Miss Utanga Wineera, is the fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs B. Wineera. Porirua, and the bridegroom Sergeant Reti Tawera, son of Mr Panere Tawera, Hawke's Bay. The bride’s descendants are direct descendants of the great chieftain, Te Rauparaha. The service, which was conducted according to the rites of tne Church of Latter-Day Saints, was performed by Elder Roberts, of Salt Lake City, with a full Maori choir.
