Rest-Room Amenities
“Tlie council is authorised by the Counties Amendment Act to provide ‘hese amenities within its county, but not to contribute to their upkeep in a neighbouring borough." staled Mr. E. N. Baker, moving at Tuesday’s ward conference in Gisborne of the Counties' Association that power be sought for contributions to be made to the upkeep of a reit-room outside the area of the county. Mr. Bakei explained that the rest-room in Gisborne had been maintained in part by the Cook and Waikohu county councils, which .bv the audit regulations were obliged to make 'heir contributions from the unauthorised expenditure accounts, which conscquentlv were subject to a heavy drain. He considered that this tvpe of expenditure should be provided for in the usual way of administration. The conference supported the' remit unanimously.
