(Herald Correapondent.) Sergeant D. B. Scott has returned to his home at Nuhaka alter being on service with the J Force in Japan. Mr. W. Browne, jnr., Wairoa, is a patient in the Wellington Hospital, where it was lound necessary to operate for eye-trouble, the sufferer, unfortunately, losing the sight of one eye. Mr C. G. Marker, M.P., accompanied by Mrs Ilarxer, has been on a short visit to Wairoa. There were only four calls received last year, stated the chairman of the Wairoa Fire Board, Mr. W. H. Flint, in his annual report, and the year had been an exceptional one so far as the financial position of the board was concerned. the income and expenditure account showing a surplus of £2X6 16s fid. Mr. Flint was re-elected chairman. The Wairoa Home Servicemen's Association held its annual meeting last week, when Mr. E. A. Jones was elected president, with Mr. J. Woolf vicepresident, and Mr. C .
