ALL PRICES FIRM WELLINGTON AUCTION ANIMATED BIDDING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, April 29. Prices for practically all classes of wool were well maintained when 25.728 bales were offered at the fourth main Wellington sale yesterday. Only 1859 bales were slipe and scoured, the smallest proportion this season. There was a full and representative bench of buyers. The offering in« eluded a greater proportion than usual of Nelson wools. The following official report was issued last night by the Wellington Wool Brokers’ Association in conjunction with the New Zealand Wool Buyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Disposal Commission:— “Catalogues comprising 24,869 bales of greasy. 1463 bales of slipe and 396 bales of scoured wool were submitted to a full and representative bench of buyers. The offering was made up of wools from Manawatu, Rangitikei and the Wairarapa and also a greater quantity than usual of Nelson wools. “As the season progresses later shorn wools are being offered and a big proportion is from ewes kept for fat lamb breeding. Being late shorn they contain a bigger proportion of cotted and weather-stained wool. There was also a large offering of lambs’ wools, which were very well grown and of good colour, resulting in a keen demand. “Bellies and pieces were also keenly competed for. Good style fleece of fine quality also sold under animated bidding. Good medium crossbreds sold at good prices, average crossbreds sold at rates firm on late sales. . . “All sections of the trade were operating freely. . “There will be a further sale in Wellington on June 21 when an offering of approximately 25,000 bales Will be submitted.” Range of Prices Southdown.—Good to super, 27d to 30d; average, 25d to 26Jd.
