INFLUENZA IN SAMOA
60% OF NATIVES VICTIMS (10 a.m.) APIA, April 27. An epidemic of respiratory influenza of a miid form has been raging in Upolu and Savaii for two weeks. It commenced on April 15 and spread rapidly through the villages. The duration of the sickness is three to seven days No deaths so far have been reported. The schools have been closed until May ( 12. The scarcity of labour has delayed the discharging and loading of the Matua. The banana shipment is considerably reduced. It is estimated I'tat over 60 per cent of the Samoans are affected by the epidemic which is reDorted to be abating.
