HIGHLAND FLING MEMORIAL SUCCESS BAD SMASH IN DOMAIN (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Anri! 23. The Forbury Park Trotting Club’s winter meeting was opened in fine weather before a large attendance, the track being fast. The totalisator handled £71,435 10s, an increase of £15,328 10s on the corresponding day of last year. In the Bayfield Handicap Jason's Quest finished second, but was disqualified for alleged interference. The driver, T. H. Gunning, was fined £lO. Port Bowen was awarded second position and Excalibur third. A bad smash occurred in the Domain Handicap. After going a furlong Minstrel Hall, driven by W. A. Thomas, fell. Peter Potts, Sir Hall, Incredible and Active Service also falling and a number of other horses were badly interfered with. Thomas, who was pinned beneath his horse for some time, was removed to hospital with broken ribs and concussion. The other drivers escaped with minor injuries.
