BID TO SEIZE QUEBEC NEXT YEAR
PLOT BY COMMUNISTS REVEALED MONTREAL, April 25. The Premier of Quebec, Mr. Maurice Duplessis, told the Legislature to-day that coded documents seized in Montreal indicated that Communists planned to take control of the Quebec province in 1948 on the one hundredth anniversary. A Communist manifesto and documents which were found by the police in a recent raid on a Communist hide-out in Montreal stated that between 10,000 and 12,000 men could seize the province. The Communists planned to seize Montreal City with 100 men and provincial police headquarters with 120 men. Mr. Duplessis, who promised to reveal further details later, said that the number of Communists in Canada was small, but he urged strict watchfulness over entry and exit permits and over Communist literature
