GOLF IN BRITAIN
DAILEY AND ALLEN LEAD LONDON, April 23. A. M. Dailey and T. W. Allen with scores of 73, lead the field at the end of the first 18 holes in the Brand Lochryn gold competition, comprising stroke play over 72 holes at the Royal Midourrey course. Richmond. They are followed by A. J. Lace, 77, N. von Nida and Richard Burton 75. The weather to-day was very bad. Dailey and Allen played early when the weather was most favourable, but the others, including von Nina, Burton and Lacey had to battle against a storm of high wind and heavy rain. The scores of outstanding players like Henry Cotton, 78, Dai Rees 79, and Alfred Padgham, 78, testify to the wretchedness of the conditions. Alliss and W ,J Cox returned 75’s and Faulkner 76. Only 42 of the 125 competitors managed to break 80.
