Wreaths were placed on the memorial by former Australian and New Zealand servicemen. A parade in the afternoon halted at the Bridge of Remembrance, where Mr H: E Batchelor, vice-president, of the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association, placed a wreath. More than 5000 people heard the Anzac Day address in the barracks given by the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Sir Patrick Duff, who served on Gallipoli as an officer in the famous 29th Division. / fter the service wreaths were carried to the citizens’ War Memorial, where a brief service was held by the Dean ol Christchurch. the Very Rev.
