BRITISH CAR DEFECTS

EXPERTS’ CRITICISM MUCH COMPETITION AHEAD LONDON, March 24. The motoring correspondent of the Observer, reviewing the Geneva motor show, ' says British car manufacturers at present are considering a list of imlects in British cars prepared by impartial Swiss experts. These range from criticisms of body finish to noisy gears and unsuitable Springing, while excessive cylinder wear is another frequent complaint. . The motoring correspondent says the show made it plain that British manufacturers must shortly expect heavy competition in overseas markets. With the British Budget only a few weeks away, strong efforts are being made by the British motor trade to persuade the Government to change the present basis of motor taxation so that British makers will be encouraged to design larger and heavier cars of the type more suitable for overseas markets.
