Fishing With Moss
Moss was used for bait to catch fish known as ngege at Jinja in Uganda, said Mr. E. E. Syme, a New Zealander, who arrived from East Africa by the Selandia. The moss grew under the arch of the Ripon Falls at the source of the River Nile, and was the only bait that would attract the fish, which were about 6in. long and looked like schnapper. They were plentiful and made a tasty dish. Before the _ war many Americans had visited Jin.ia to be able to say they had caught fish with moss.
