BIBLE 491 YEARS OLD
VALUED AT HUGE SUM (10 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 28. One of the last of the original Gutenberg Bibles remaining in private ownership in Britain is to be offered for sale at Sotheby’s on March 11.
The Bible, which is in two volumes, is the property of Mr, Charles Dyson Perrins, of Malvern, who bought it in 1908 for £2050. To-day it is expected to bring a huge sum.
The two volumes are among the original first-printed editions of the Bible carried out by Gutenberg on his press at Mainz in 1455.
