(10 a m ) SAN FRANCISCO, January 28. When about 1500 delegates to the annual convention of the American Woolgrowers’ Association met to-day, Mr. J. B. Wilson, of Wyoming, chairman of the legislative committee, drew a gloomy picture for the industry should the State Department continue its programme to promote greater world trade. Mr Wilson predicted tariff cuts in wool and woollen goods if the programme was carried out, and declared that the only hope for American growers would be Congress legislation_ providing price subsidies. He recommended that the association should press for an increased tariff to cover increased costs and also an import quota system for wool and woollen products.
