SCHOOL BREAK-UPS PRIZES PRESENTED Another year of work fini-heT oh Thusday for pupils of the Gi -borne Intermediate and primary schools. At the latter schools small break-up ceremonies were held during the day. Functions which mark tho approach of the end of the school year in the way of gala days and picnics have been held at some schools recently. At the Awapuni School the gala day proved one of the best which had ever been conducted. The school picnic held at the Waihirire Domain was also highly successful, a large number of. parents attending. Races and novelty events maintained the interest of the children, prizes being provided for all infants who took part.

Class prizes presented on Thursday at the Awapuni School were:—Dux: Jack Baigent. Std. 3: Douglas Carswell, 1. Std. 2: Paul Mines, 1. Std. 1: John Middlebrook. Gardening certificates were won by the following:—First Class: Jack Baigent. Second Class: Marie Gordon and Douglas Carswell. Third Class: Gilbert McLatchie and Bernard Norman. Certificates of Merit: Valerie Saggers, Muriel Croskery, Edward Westcott, Marion Prentice, Judith Flint, Patrick Wilkinson and Josenhine Proud foot.
