LODGE XI BATSMAN ANOTHER RETIRES TWICE’ Some good figures, including a tally of 122, retired, have been returned in recent cricket games between elevens representing Mangapapa and Star of G'shorne Oddfellows Lodges. The century referred to was recorded last week-end by the Mangapapa player, F Traue. whose 122 including 17 fours, formed the major contribution to the total of 225 made in reply to the Star qf Gisborne opening strike, which realised 211 runs. Mangapapa thus won by the narrow margin of 14- runs on the first innings H. Dickenson, 29, and N. Fraser, 13, were the only other Mangapapa batsmen to reach double figures, though 'Mr. Extras” accounted for 34. L. Wilcox. four wickets for 29 runs, and E. Willcox, two for 43, were the most successful bowlers.

Double-figure scorers for Star of Gisborne were E. Willcox, 54; T. Post, 52; L. Jackson. 41 retired; A. Innes, 27 retired; D. Felton, 12; and W. Corbett, 10 not out. The innings was declared for nine wickets, including the two men retired. The leading Mangapapa bowlers were F. Mason, three for 44, and P. Rohan, two - for 36 *
