MAYOR'S FAME INCREASES (P.A.) AUCKLAND. Dec. 9. The Auckland City Council is fast becoming an international matri-
monial bureau. Embarras s e d at his apparently increasing fame as an adviser to the lovelorn, the Mayor, Mr. J. A. J. Allum. has lias to add a “m at'rim onial bureau” folder to the Mayoral files. For months Mr. Allum has been receiving a flow of applications from Britain by girls seeking New Zealand husbands. despite published warnings by the Mayor that the only domestic shortage in New Zealand is housing. In a husband-
seeking letter received this morning, Eleanor Goring, of Crawford Mansions, Crawford street, London, gives all the details: "Height, sft. 2<n., weight, 7st. 6ozs.; brunette: a reasonable cook; home-loving; and fond of sport.” She says she wears glasses, “which are a drawback in London.
