SWISS GUARDS’ WATCH
BRITISH OFFICE IN BASLE ZIONIST CONFERENCE LONDON, Dec. 8. Guards arc reported to be stationed around the British Consulate at Basle during the world Zionist conference opening to-morrow as the Swiss authorities fear that an incident similar to the recent bombing of the British Embassy in Rome would start a wave of anti-Semitic riots, says the British United Press’ correspondent in Basle.
Three hundred conference delegates are expected to grant a mandate to the Jewish Agency to press for autonomous Arab and Jewish States in Palestine, with unlimited Jewish immigration into the Jewish States and also to order the Jewish Agency to participate in the forthcoming Palestine conference in London.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann. who is expected to resign the congress presidency, praised Britain’s part in helping the Jews in Palestine. He said he was most anxious to maintain connections \yith Britain.
