Burma’s Finances
Britain will no longer finance Burma anti the Burmese Government will be accorded increased financial powers under a new arrangement reached in the London talks between the British Cabinet and the Burmese financial advisers, says the Associated Press’ correspondent in Rangoon. Mr. U. Tin Tut, finance member of the Governor’s Executive Council, said that formal approval of the new arrangement is expected soon from London. The council, meanwhile, is taking over full financial powers, and will impose additional taxation and exercise economy to make up the loss of British financial aid.
