“The Left Honourables”
The Lord Chamberlain, the Earl of Clarendon, has lifted the ban on the song, “The Left Honourables," which is an item in the revue “Between Ourselves.” The song, nevertheless, will be slightly modified. The Daily Mail reported last week that comedians’ scripts and songs for a new revue were returned from the Lord Chamberlain’s office with all the jokes referring to present-day Ministers deleted. The chief objection was to a satirical number which named several Ministers and was called “The Left Honourables.” The writer of the song said it was returned heavily cut and accompanied by a letter pointing out .that it was against the accepted policy to allow such political “guying.”
