STATE CORPORATION EXECUTIVE OFFICERS LENGTHY EXPERIENCE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 6. Further appointments to New Zealand National Airways Corporation were announced by the chairman, Sir Leonard Isitf. The appointments were these of chief accountant, chief engineer. operations manager, training superviser and secretary to tlie board. Mr. D. E. Foley, who has been appointed chief accountant, was seconded to Union Airways, Limited, eight years ago in a similar capacity after years of executive and accountancy experience with the Union Steam Ship Co., Ltd. He was responsible for the accounting for both Union and Tasman Empire Airways. Chief Engineer’s Post Mr. L. Mangham. the corporation’s new chief engineer has been chief engineer for Union Airways since its inception. He holds a pilot's license endorsed for most of the aircraft types in New Zealand, including tlie Lockheed Electra and Lodestar. For the past 12 years he has had control of Union Airways services throughout New Zealand. Mr. A. G. Gerrand. who has been appointed operations manager, was an original pilot commander on the Union Airways service and before the outbreak of war he held the position of service manager. He saw service with the R.N.Z.A.F. and the R.A.F. Transport Command and returned to New
Zealand to become operations manager of Union Airways. He has over 10,000 flying hours to his credit.
Training Supervisor
Mr. H. C. Walker, who has been appointed training supervisor, has been a pilot commander in Union Airways for the past 10 years. After long service in the R.N.Z.A.F., he rose to the rank of wing commander and received an American decoration for service in the Pacific. Mr. Walker was the pilot who accompanied the late Squadron Leader H. C. McGregor in the. Macßobertson Centenary England-Mel-bourne air race. On his return to Union Airways he was appointed training supervisor. The new secretary to the board, Wing Commander K. J. Crichton, 0.8. E., recently returned from England, where he was senior administration officer at R.N.Z.A.F. headquarters in London.
