SCOUT AWARDS

WOMEN RECIPIENTS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Dec. G. The Boy Scout Association announced to-day that the Governor-General. Sir Bernard Freyberg. as Dominion Chief Scout, had approved the award of the Scout Association’s certificate of merit to Miss Mary B. Rowan. Lower Hutt, and Mrs. A. V. Henderson, Ngaio. in recognition of their services to the movement. Miss Rowan had been assistant cubmaster and cubmaster at Lower Hutt until 1946. when she was appointed assistant county commissioner for Wolf Cubs for the Hutt valley and bays Scout county. She holds the cub’s wood badge. Mrs. Henderson was assistant cubmaster and cubmaster of the East Harbour Scout group from 1939, relinquishing, the appointment recently on her marriage and transfer to Ngaio.
