MERGER OF INTERESTS
I CO-OP. DAIRY COMPANIES MORRINSVILLE & NORFOLK (P.A.) HAMILTON, Dec. G. Following discussions between the directors of the Norfolk Co-operative Dairy Company, Motmnaoho, and the Morrinsville Co-operative Company tor the merger of their respective interests, the purchase of the Norfolk Company as part of a major expansion plan was decided upon by the Morrinsville directors after a full discussion with the shareholders yesterday. The plan embodies the establishment of a butter-milk drying plant at the company’s plant at Morrinsville and the conversion oi buttermilk formerly used for pig feeding into high-class powdered milk products, which will be exported to the United Kingdom to assist in alleviating the serious food shortages there. It is expected that the financial results which will be achieved by the processing ol the milk in this way will substantially add to the money available for distribution to sharehold- ! crs.
The plant, which will cost in the vicinity of £12,500, is expected to be ill operation earlv in the 1947-48 dairying season.
