HARD WORK AHEAD

AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE

GREAT OPPORTUNITIES CANBERRRA. Dec. 7. The devotion to duty and the efforts made by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester to become acquainted with the whole of Australia during their two years in this country were the subject of tributes at the Parliamentary dinner at Parliament House. The Duke, in response to a .toast of his health, said that one of his impressions was of the great future which lay ahead of Australia. “No one can deny the opportunities which Australia offers, but these demand vision, ’unity of purpose, hard work and manpower. It is by vision and hard work that the pioneers handed down so rich a heritage to the present generation of Australians, and these are qualities which will make future generations look back in gratitude to the men and women of our time.

“It would be very wrong to allow people to-day to think that anything good can be obtained or retained without sacrifice and hard work,” he added.
