“In my opinion, if the court does not impose imprisonment it will be weakly giving way to leniency because you are a woman,” said Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court to-day in sentencing Viola Muriel Smith, aged 32. to two months’ imprisonment for bigamy which she admitted. Mr. Justice Callan said the woman’s conduct was very irresponsible. She had grossly deceived one man.
