UNITED MUONS FIT FOR PLUMPTON

SOUTH RIDING IMPROVING ON LAST WEEK?

GOOD RACING M PROSPECT AT AVONDALE

(Herald Special Service.)

The Avondale Jockey Club concludes its summer meeting’ to-morrow on the Avondale racecourse. The fields are hardly as big as the first day, but are of good quality, and good racing looks like taking place again.

The chief race of the day is the 11-furlong l’lumpton Handicap in which Ihe (Gisborne representative United Nations, is one of the field.

Lady Foxbridge. On that form the ex-Hastings Bulsandshar gelding is a consideration.

Jayquil, 7.1, third last Saturday, must now enter the argument as a place proposition at least.

The Titirangi Hack Handicap has drawn an acceptance over the safety number, so provision has been made to run this event in two divisions.

Tilahi, 7.0, has not been racing up to expectations on this trip.

On his third last Saturday the hurdler Bramble Song. 7.0, is to be given a lightweight's chance too.

The following is a brief perusal of the runners:—

PLUMPTON HANDICAP

Rakanui, 8.11, is coming down in the weights, but his form suggests that the old fellow is going to be hard put to win another decent stake. Valley Boy, 8.10, although failing in his recent starts, might surprise now. Conspiracy, 7.9, has been racing consistently well and a win would be a just reward for his recent unsuccessful attempts.

United Nations, 7.9, attracted notice by her good track gallop on Tuesday morning and may do better now than a week ago.

Sallron Walden, 7.8. was second over a mile last Saturday to White Blaze and. being a Foxbridge, should run out the other three furlongs without much difficulty. Billy Peach, 7.8, failed last Saturday, but might do better now over the longer course.

South Riding. 7.4, ran a clinking good second last week to the since defunct

MT. EDEN HANDICAP

Bonny Pay, 9.1, is not opposed by a very brilliant crowd and might carry his impost successfully. Cambria, 8.9, seems to have lost form, but in his favour is his decreased poundage. Nepela, 8.1, was never one to pin your faith to. Peter Gregor, 7.13, is overdue again. Our Bridge, 7.9, reads dangerous, but has not been racing recently. Hay’s Pal, 7.G, disappointed last week. Nawab, 7.5, goes fast and only has to reproduce his track form to be very hard this time.

Mahia Park, 7.0, came home well for fourth last Saturday and now reads better than the other two lightweights.

TITIRANGI HANDICAP

There is not a great deal of form offering in the First Division, with Bridge Watcher, Nancy Hanks, Sir Emmett, and Native Son the only acceptors who have shown any form this term.

The form in the Second Division is even poorer than in the first. However, what form there is points to Yusuf, Camp Queen, Hunting Dink, and Silver Cane being the harden! to heat.

THREE KING'S EIURDLES

Representative failed last week in a field no better in quality than this. However, if he takes it into his head he may win easily.

Gold Spot is gradually coming back to form, as ho showed last week in a track gallop once round. He is now in his twelfth year.

Varuna has been racing well enough on the fiat to say that he might win; lie won a steeplechase on Labour Day. Waiting is in form and does best with a holding track.

Lucky Alex might he in need <>C a race. Balliuasloo is another witli winning form and looks like being the favourite. Lotto is not without a show over this course. Sir Grant has not been racing prominently of late. , . , , The Dude was second last week, so might do better this time.

British Talent, third last Saturday, appeals more than the one other acceptor, Master Cameron.

ROSEBANK HACK

Lord Revel is not very big and 9.0 will test him out. Nevertheless, he is in the right form. Belle Zorra seems to have busted her bubble, according to her latest failures. The Fake is consistent and has always to be in a final summing-up in a field of this class. Super Vaals is fancied as well as the next best. Nancy Vaals is fair, while Cold Watch may find the mile n little too far for iier, although

she did run out a solid seven furlongs to win at To Rapa recently. Knku Nui’s second Inst week brings notice to Ilia chance. Lightmint lias no form. Spirillum, tile hurdler, is missed over in this event. Accepted hardly raced ns well last Saturday ns expected, hut may do better now. Grand Tourist is racing without luck, having won recently, only to be placed second after nil inquiry. Valley Trail was fourth at her last attempt and might do best of the lightweights.

HOPEFUL STAKES

Niloch has been placed in ids three starts this season for a fourth,, a first, and a second respectively. Pelias is well commented upon ns perhaps tlie best two-ycar-oid in the Auckland Province to-day. Night School was in the money at Napier Park, but Inst Saturday was not equal to even wcighing-in. The above trio are the only ones with any form in this two-year-old event.

MT. ROSKILL HACK

Ostentatious is fairly consistent, but is taking some time to run out of the hack class. Perfect Peace won well last Saturday, but B.G mi-ht trouble the Hastings throe-year-old filly, who is anything hut robust. PeKKy O’ is a useful middle-distance hack. Ascot Lad is now bein;c tried over a middledistance ; he failed last Saturday over a short course. ~ ,

General Lytup was not in the call the first Chaka might surprise. He has a win and two seconds to his credit this season out of six starts. , Bhirti was second recently to La Ora and the latter was fourth in the big race last week.

The winner might come from the nine or 10 lesser lights, but it is not very likely on form that such will happen.

FAREWELL HANDICAP

Broicdumc is better suited to this distance than she was to last week's, hut it is problematical if she is yet hack to last season’s winning form. White Blaze on last Saturday's win would repeat that .lose again. Lord Uarwon, on form, is not recommended. Balmacara was expected last week, hut looked, according to report, in need of a strong pipe-opener. Hunting Loch is a light-weight possibility, although lie has had four failures in a row. Kerry Lad did not do as well last week as expected. lta Ora, fourth last week in tile chief race, reads a possibility. Gavinmor was a .big disappointment last Saturday. Mahia Park is also in the sprint, but might prefer this race. Bronzcman reads' the best of the others. RIDING ENGAGEMENTS P. Brennan. —General Lytup, Titahl, Night School, Accepted, llazroy. G. F.
