Vanguard left Portsmouth vest'erday on a cruise to Madeira and Gibralta y as a preliminary to her voyage to South Africa with the King, Queen al "rhe l Vanguard is expected to return to Portsmouth on December 20 and then go to the berth from which the Royal Party will embark on the evening ° f Although "the Royal apartments on the battleship are structurally, complete they have still to be furnished and decorated. All furniture and pictures are to be brought from the Royal yacht Victoria and Albert. The Royal apartments will be in the afterpart of the superstructure in accommodation usually occupied by the Admiral and his St Among the Vanguard’s crew ot 1800 will be the famous band of the Ports mouth division of the Ro L a H Ma s r iiver who will take with them their silver bugles and emblazoned drums. While the Vanguard is in South Africa, she will visit various ports and will be open to the public. The crew will give a number of chndren s parties for which swings, toboggans and other amusement equipment will be provided. Members of the crew are also forming their own concert party and will entertain the Royal family on the voyage and give concerts in South Africa.
