DRESS FOR SUMMER

JAYCEES SUPPORT REFORM MEN’S INFORMAL CLOTHES Support for the growing demand for dress reform for men, especially during the summer months, was voiced at the monthly meeting of the Gisborne Junior Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday evening. It was decided that Jaycees should support the reform and that the wearing of grey slacks, open-necked shirt, the carrying of a sports coat, and the optional wearing of a hat be more or less recognised as the proper wear for summer weather. Presided over by Mr. V. P. Boot, the meeting passed a motion of condolence with Mr. H. Mahon in the recent death of his father. Members of the social committee of the chamber were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their efforts which had made the recent social evening such a success. A letter expressing the thanks of the chamber also is to be sent to Miss Bobby Scott for her assistance at the social.

Some of his experiences at the Olympic and Empire games were recounted by Mr. Boot, who was accorded a vote of thanks at the conclusion of his address.
