OBITUARY

MRS. MARION JONES

The death at her daughter’s residence in Auckland on Tuesday of Mrs. Marion Jones, widow of the late Mr. William Henry Jones, Gisborne, will come as a shock to many of her friends in this district.

Mrs. Jones was the daughter of old settlers in the Gisborne district and she was born here 69 years ago, and spent practically the whole of her life in the Gisborne area. Mrs. Jones married in Gisborne Mr. William Henry Jones, and the couple took up farming at Bushmere, where they came to be highly respected residents. A wide circle of friends came to know the kindliness of Mrs. Jones and she will be sadly missed by many of the older Gisborne farming community. After her husband'died in 1918 Mrs; Jones continued to live in Gisborne until about three months ago. when, owing to health reasons, she left to reside in Auckland. To mourn their loss Mrs. Jones leaves four daughter's and four sons—Mrs. W. Russell. Auckland; Mrs. A. Seal, Auckland; Mrs. C. Clayton-Green. Matawai; and Mrs. N. Pond, Matamata; Messrs. A.. L.. and C. Jones, Gisborne, and Mr. Rex. Jones, Toatoa. There arc also 16 grandchildren.

A s“rv:cr> will be held in Cochrane's chapel, William street, at 1.45 p.m. today prior to the funeral leaving for the Makaraka cemetery.
