CRITICS ASSAILED

FOOD CAMPAIGN “ALLIES OF FAMINE” MR. FRASER'S ATTACK (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. Condemnation in the strongest terms was expressed by the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, yesterday of those who bv word or deed discouraged the campaign .to collect food tor the relief of people threatened with famine. "Such people will be guilty of the death of millions of their fellow human beings,'’ he declared. "New Zealand made sacrifices in her war effort to help the world overthrow the threat of Nazism, and it is equally right and proper that we should play our part to defeat the new enemy—famine—which is taking a toll of the lives of millions. "Anybody who by word or deed throws doubt upon the validity of New Zealand's effort, or questions the destination of the food collected, constitutes himself an ally of starvation. Such inferences or inuendos cannot be justified on any grounds or pretext. It is our duty, bv precept and example, to help in this campaign to save human lives.”
