Polish Soldiers’ Plebiscite
A plebiscite will be.held next month to enable 107,000 members of the Polish forces in Italy to vote for or against returning to their own country, reports the Daily Telegraph’s correspondent in Rome. The opinion among the forces is that the number electing to return will be small, possibly less than a quarter.
Telephone Facilities
The provision of a telephone for the emergency 16-bed block occupied by nurses at the Cook Hospital was decided on at the meeting of the Cook Hospital Board yesterday, in response to a request from nurses in the block. Mrs E it Scott moved that the request be "ranted on the grounds that occupants of the special block were less well placed than those of the main nurses' home. Mr. E. R. Black seconded the motion, on the condition that the telephone be connected direct to the Gisborne exchange and that the traffic from the special block should not come upon the already overloaded trunk lines through the hospital office. Messrs G. D. Muirhead and J. 11. Hall supported the motion, wihch was carried unanimously.
