FOOD FOR GERMANY
ZONE 1,000,000 TONS IMPORTED N.Z. VEGETABLES INCLUDED (11 a.m.) LONDON. March 25. The British element of the Control Commission for Germany announced that nearly 1,000,000 tons of food, mainly wheat from Britain. Canada and the United States, had been imported into the British zone since June 15. It included 780,000 tons of wheat, flour and barley. 54,000 tons of potatoes. 18,500 tons of fresh vegetables from Britain and Holland, and 46,000 tons of fish from Norway. Further importations of fresh vegetables from Denmark, dehydrated and canned vegetables from New Zealand, Australia. South Africa and America, cocoa from Britain and Australia, Bermuda, and fish from Norway are on tire programme for the next few months. . A further 75,000 tons of flour and bread grain, enough for 10 days at the present rate of consumption, will be imported before the end of April.
