EVACUATING PERSIA
RED ARMY COLUMNS MOVING OUT BRITISH INQUIRIES IN TEHERAN COMMONS PARTY TO VISIT COUNTRY (By Telegraph— Press Assn.—Copyright.) (10 a.m.) LONDON, March 25. Although no information has reached London that the Russian forces are withdrawing from Persia, Prince Firoua, the Persian Under-Secretary of State, confirmed that the Russian Army last night began the evacuation. Prince Firouz said: “Twenty-five tanks, 100 army lorries, and 700 men have already left Karaj and Pookazvin and the movement is continuing.” He added that the Russians would leave Persia within the next five weeks. The Exchange Telegraph’s diplomatic correspondent says the British Charge d’Affaires at Teheran has been instructed to make inquiries about the Russians’ withdrawal. The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hector McNeil stated in the House of Commons that the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Ernest Bevin, in response to a request, had agreed to arrange for a small party of Members of the House of Commons to visit Persia.
