SUNDAY TRADING
STRICTER CONTROL AUCKLAND OFFENDERS (P.A.) AUCKLAND. March 26. Steps had been taken to ensure stricter control of Sunday trading and the police were co-operating to track down offenders against the law, stated Mr. C. C. King, of the Fruit and Retailers’ Association. Some dairies carried small supplies of fruit during the summer, but bylaw they were permitted to sell onlymilk for consumption off the premises on Sunday. , The practice of selling fruit, ice cream and other foodstuffs for consumption off the premises had been widespread, he said, and some roadside vendors of fruit also had broken the law. One summons already had been issued. He hoped retailers would respect the law and that there would be no need for further action.
