NGATAI’A The Ngatapa Women's Institute's February meeting was hold in (he garden of Hjo president. Mrs. E, C. Briant. There was an attendance of 23 members, and apologies from Mesdames 11. White, R. hlicrratt, L. M. Monckton and A. Smith. Mesdames Bnihei. Peel and Ritchie were welcomed as visl ois end Mrs Hockley proposed as a new membci. The competition, the prettiest tray doth, resulted:—Mrs. E. Hindman. 1 and 3: Miss L, Muir. 2. Nominations were called for a new president and committee. Catering arrangements were made for the forthcoming sports and dance It was decided that the patriotic ■fund balance he paid to the local welfare fund. An interesting talk. "The Raising and care of Poultry." was given by Mrs. 1 eel and was much appreciated by members. She was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. Tea was served by Mesdames Turnbull, Ncvermnn and Broadhurst. MOTU-MOTUHORA Motu-Motuhora held the February meeting at the home of Mrs. Hutchins, with a good attendance of members. Arrangements were made for the arcssmak;„g classes. Owing to the scattered district it is hoped to hold one at Motuhorn and one at Motu. The roll call. "Hints for the new year's programme," eras well responded to. Ml'S. Stewart read an interesting golden thread. t WAERENGA-A-lIIKA Wnerenga-a-hikn’s February meeting was held at the residence of Mm. Cowan, Hex ton. Mr?. Barrow presided over a pood attendance, which included two visitors and two new members. , ~ .... The president read an interesting article on the life of the Panhhurst family. The dressmaking scheme was discussed and members were keen to Join. The competition, plum jam, resulted: Mrs. Paulsen, 1; Mrs. Barrow, ~. The trades table was well patronised. Mrs. Cowan was warmly thanked for the use of her home. ORMOND The Ormond Women's Institute met at its room for ;the February meeting, Mrs. Greig presiding Over a good attendance. The Dominion president’s letter was read, and also Miss Cox-Johnstone’s farewell letter, from Home and Country. Mrs. Lee read a very interesting article on the Cottage of Science founded by Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort. The election of officers was discussed, and a list of intending pupils for the dressmaking class made out. The best in my garden competition resulted: Mrs. Greig. 1 : Mrp. Pardoe. 2. Tho annual picnic, held in January, was well attended. WAIMATA VALLEY Waimata Valley held a very enjoyable meeting at the home of Mrs. Rogers. The roll call, “A cleaning hint," brought forth many bright ideas. The competition, "The best in my garden," resulted: Mrs. Graham, I. A fascinating game of proverbs was won by Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Graham gave a golden thread reading from the newspaper. The meeting closed after a delightful tea had been served by the Mesdames Rogers, who were thanked for the use of their home. PUHA The Puha Women’s Institute met in the Puha Hall, when it was decided to postpone the annual autumn flower show owing to the continued drought. Members were asked to each bring a month’s programme for the ensuing year. The roll call, "What benefit is your W.l. to outsiders?" was well responded to. The competitions resulted: —Knitted Article for Baby: Mrs. M. Graham, 1 ; Mrs. Drummond. 2. Family Buns, with Recipe: Mrs. M. Graham, 1; Mrs. Drummond, 2.
