PERSISTO DESTROYED CUP TO LADY FOXBRIDGE TWO RIDERS INJURED TAIJRANGA, March The Bay of Plenty Racing Club’s autumn meeting opened on Saturday in fine weather. The track was in good order and there was an excellent attendance. The totalisator turnover was £15,078 10s. a decrease was £15.031 on last year when the meeting was held at I’aeron. In the first race, the Handicap Hurdles. J. H. Hedley’s Persisto broke his fetlock when he fell at one of the fences and was destroyed. The rider. G. Smith, was admitted to hospital with concussion. E, Coo. the rider of Dettv Baffles, which fell in the same race, was also admitted to hospital. A protest was lodged against Land Warden, which dead-heated with Tilting in the President’s Hack Handicap, but the judge’s plncings were allowed to stand.
