100 Miles of Lines
Approximately 100 miles of power lines are being laid by' the Hawke s Bay Electric-Power Board at a cost of £50,000, in areas which have been guaranteed. Investiture of V.C. The investiture of Squadron-Leader Trent with the V.C. will take place at Buckingham Palace on March 20 according to advice received by Mrs. L. In. Trent in a letter from her son. Mrs. Trent intended to go to London to witness the investiture, but cannot now reach there in time. She has cancelled her visit. The letter also stated that the V.C. winner’s family will arrive at Nelson in two months. —P.A. Old Folks’ Birthday Party Much interest centres in the annual “birthday party” which the Gisborne Old Folks’ Association wall hold tomorrow at the Parish Hall, and which is expected to attract many elderly residents who regard this fixture as one of their principal outings. The arrangements are in the hands of a committee headed by Mr. W. Peryer, who acted for the president in the presentation ceremony held recently in connection with the impending departure from Gisborne of Mrs. B. Carter, a wellknown member
