SEDITION CHARGES
MALAYAN COMMUNIST (10 a.m ) SINGAPORE, March 22. Lin Ahliang, chief of the Singapore branch of the Malayan Communist Party, was sentenced to one year s rigorous imprisonment on charges of escaping from police custody and using violence, but was acquitted on a third charge of inciting to riot. Lin is also facing the court on charges of sedition. These charges arose irom the incidents in Singapore on February ID, when demonstrations were started to mark the fourth anniversary of the fall of Singapore to the Japanese.
