DAILY ROUND Mrs. F. A. McFadyen, Childers road, has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. J. Barnett, Wellington, are guests at the Masonic Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Matthews, Waerenga-o-kuri, have returned from the South Island. Captain A. J. and Mrs. Ross, Taumarunui. are the guests of the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Shatford Cox, Harris street. Miss Betty Burton, Ruatoria, left this week for an extended holiday in Waipukurau and Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Foxley. Hawke’s Bay, are visiting Gisborne and arc at their cottage at Wainui Beach.
Dr. and Mrs. L. Black and family. Wellington, have taken up their residence at 167 Stanley road. Dr. Black is the surgical registrar at the Cook Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. ,J. Busby. Tokomaru Bny. who expect to he in Gisborne for some weeks, are in residence In Harris street. Flight-Lieutenant and Mrs. Tony Bolton, Nelson, arrive nt Gisborne to-day to stay with Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Nugent, Stout street. Mosdnmcs A. J. Burge and J. Taylor, Hastings, who have been the guests of Mrs. R. Jenkins. Russell street, returned home to-day Mrs. H. E. and Miss June Irvine, Riverside road, have returned from a holiday spent, nt the Bay of Islands and Mt. Maunganui, Tauranga.
Gisborne friends will be interested to learn IkM Flight Lieutenant Irvin W. (Bob) Renner. D.F.C. pecond son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Renner. Gisborne, is to be married at Oakham, Rutland. England, on March 28 to Miss Mary Wakefield, eldest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wakefield, of Normanton Lodge, Oakham.

Rowley, Tokomaru Bay. Falconer—Elliott.—The engagement is announced between Alexander George, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Falconer, Hail street, and Alfreda Joan, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Elliott, Cliflord street. Ensor—Blackburn.—An engagement is announced between Richard Walter, second son of Mrs. K. A. Ensor. 24 Tukura road, and Vivienne Mary, only daughter of LieutenantColonel and Mrs. C. A. D’A. Blackburn, 10 Score road, Gisborne. COCKTAIL PARTY Miss Barbara Kemp, Russell street, was hostess recently at a five to seven party given for Miss Sydney Barton, whose marriage took place on Thursday. Bowls of asters, belladonna lilies and gladioli were used to bright effect. Mrs. Kemp greeted her daughter's guests wearing a floral marocain frock of cherry shadings, Miss Kemp wore a floral crepe dress with white ground and chartreuse and blue tonings, while the guest of honour wore a “cocktail time” frock with turquoise blouse top and black skirt. Other hostesses who entertained Miss Barton prior to her marriage were the Misses A. and J. Thomas, Owen road, and Miss H. Barker, Childers road.
