CAFETERIA PLAN
HIGH SCHOOL MEALS USE OF DWELLING The proposal of the Parents’ Association of the Gisborne High School to establish a cafeteria at the school to serve hot drinks and other augmentations of pupils’ mid-day meals seems likely to proceed to a satisfactory conclusion. In a report to the board of governors at its monthly meeting yesterday afternoon Mr. J. Leggat, rector of the school, stated that while in Wellington recently he discussed with officers of the Education Department the use to be made of the Dalgairns house on the property recently bought for addition to the school grounds. The chief inspector and the department’s architect had approved the board using the house for the purposes of a music room and cafeteria, and the architect was now in process of approving the proposed alterations to the building. The report was received with much satisfaction, and a sub-committee was appointed to confer with the executive of the Parents’ Association on the matter of initiating the cafeteria service.
