VICIOUS ATTACK
ELDERLY WOMAN TORTURED BY THIEVES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 6. A vicious attack was made on Miss Margaret Robin, aged 83. at her home at 2 McFarlanc street, Mount Victoria, recently, by two men. Miss Robin had been visiting friends nearby and on her return home she entered by a side door, leaving it open for the cat to come in. Two thieves entered, threw a cloth over her head, and tied it tightly round her mouth. Miss Robin was then thrown on the floor and while .helpless her wrists and arms were twisted by tlie two men in an attempt to force nn admission from her where she kept her money. She protested that her money was in the bank, but the torture continued. A heavy wooden ruler was procured and used to strike her. Obtaining no result, the thieves left her and after turning all the papers upside down in her small office gave their attention to her bedroom, where, after much rummaging, they found about £8 in money. When Miss Robin was able later to struggle to the telephone after . the thieves had gone she rang a friend, who found Miss Robin with both eyes blackened and her face scratched and bruised, while there was a deep cut on her hand.
